Silva, architect, designed this award-winning residence as
a celebration of the four elements of earth, water, air and
fire. Atop a hill with 360-degree views, the circular plan
is bisected to draw these elements into the large, center
courtyard creating an outdoor extension of living and the
hub of the house. The exterior foyer welcomes visitors with
a direct view over the fountain and the back yard fire pit
to the blue lake beyond.

Mary
Pierce used lighting to blend inside and outside, fusing the
interior and exterior rooms with warmth.
Extensive use of up-lighting resolves the issue of ambient
lighting in this open-beamed, high-ceiling home and dramatically
accents the architecture. The art gallery, the interior outer
ring to the inner courtyard, guides the viewer with step lighting
below the exterior windows.
The pre-Colombian art is emphasized by special framing projectors.
Niche accent lighting accentuates art objects throughout the
gallery and the house. Exterior columns glow; seemingly embracing
the night and defining the space.
